    How It Works

    Amazon advertising formulas

    ROAS

    Ad Sales ÷ Ad Spend

ROAS shows how much ad-attributed revenue was generated for each dollar spent on advertising.

    ACoS

    Ad Spend ÷ Ad Sales

ACoS shows the percentage of ad-attributed revenue consumed by advertising.

    TACoS

    Ad Spend ÷ Total Sales

TACoS measures advertising spend relative to all Amazon revenue, including organic sales.

    Total ROAS

    Total Sales ÷ Ad Spend

TROAS shows the total Amazon revenue supported by each dollar of advertising spend.

    Interpreting the Metrics

What is a good Amazon ACoS or ROAS?

There is no single ACoS or ROAS target that is profitable for every Amazon product. Your appropriate target depends on product margin, Amazon fees, fulfillment costs, pricing, returns, and your growth goals.

A lower ACoS is not automatically better if advertising reductions also cause total sales, organic rank, or new-customer acquisition to decline. Likewise, a high ROAS does not guarantee profitability when product margins are low.

Calculate your break-even ACoS and profit
    ACoS Measures ad-attributed efficiency
TACoS Measures advertising against total revenue
ROAS Shows ad revenue generated per $1 spent
TROAS Shows total revenue generated per $1 spent
    Frequently Asked Questions

    Amazon advertising metric FAQs

What is the difference between ACoS and TACoS?

ACoS divides ad spend by ad-attributed sales. TACoS divides ad spend by total Amazon sales. TACoS therefore includes the effect of organic revenue, while ACoS evaluates only ad-attributed revenue.

What is the relationship between ACoS and ROAS?

ACoS and ROAS are inverse measurements. An ACoS of 25% equals a ROAS of 4.00x. A ROAS of 5.00x equals an ACoS of 20%.

Does a low TACoS mean my account is profitable?

Not necessarily. TACoS measures advertising spend relative to total sales, but it does not include product costs, Amazon fees, fulfillment expenses, returns, or overhead.

Why can ad-attributed sales exceed total sales?

This can happen when reports use different attribution windows, time zones, sales definitions, or adjustment timing. Make sure the figures use comparable dates and reporting methods.
